Pluralistic Jewish youth movement BBYO announces the launch of “Beyond,” a pre-college gap year program in Israel that blends learning, community service and travel. Based out of Tel Aviv University, Beyond will offer young adults a 5-month and a 9-month option, with the possibility of travel and service work in Europe and Africa. Beyond works in partnership with Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, Masa Israel Journey and Tel Aviv University. Applicants will be eligible for Masa scholarships up to $3000. “Knowing the impact of a gap year experience in Israel, we feel compelled to leverage our expertise and experience in providing powerful Israel experiences to increase the number of young Jews engaging in long-term study in Israel,” said BBYO Executive Director Matthew Grossman in a press release.
