This past January, a group of Kline Galland residents began a journey to revive their Jewish spirit by learning to read Hebrew.
The following people completed the course on March 25: Shirley Agranoff, Martha Kaufman, David Krakovsky, Harold Lazaroff, Bertha Reynolds, Richard Silver, Naum Slutzky and Miriam Zirinsky. The class, led by Rabbi Chaim Tatel, was sponsored by the National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP). The Hebrew Reading Crash Course is NJOP’s most popular program. It has been used to teach more than 150,000 North American Jews to read Hebrew. Designed for Jews with little or no background in Hebrew, the free Hebrew Reading Crash Course concentrates on teaching the Hebrew alphabet and reading skills. In only a few weekly sessions, participants learn to read Hebrew and receive a free copy of NJOP’s Reishith Binah Hebrew primer.
