Northwest Yeshiva 57, Ingraham 47
After two losses against Tacoma Baptist and Christian Faith, the Yeshiva came back to form in an impressive victory over the freshman/sophomore team from Ingraham, a division 3A school.
The 613s (13–3) started the game off strong behind 9 first-quarter points by Nisan Harel. Harel, coming off a two-game slump, led the Yeshiva with 22 points and a contribution of 9 rebounds. Josh Grashin scored all 9 of his points in the first quarter and also added a total of 5 boards and 4 assists. Michael Ben-Simon grabbed 10 rebounds to go with 5 points and 3 assists. Co-captain Seth Babani added 6 points and 5 assists in the win.
In addition to the win, the highlight of the evening had to have been during halftime when 6-4 Yoni Hirsch dunked a basketball for the first time. This, however, caused him to be charged with a technical foul. (Little known rule: A technical is charged to any player who dunks the ball during halftime.) It was all worth it, though, as Hirsch, to the crowd’s delight, dunked once more after the game. Hirsch brought down 8 rebounds, scored 3 points and blocked 3 shots.
The Yeshiva plays this Saturday night against Heritage Christian.
