The mission of Volunteers for Israel is to connect Americans to Israel through volunteer service. They achieve this goal by partnering with military and civilian organizations that enable volunteers to work side-by-side with Israelis. They promote solidarity and good will among Israelis, American Jews and other friends of Israel.
They currently have volunteer opportunities on non-combat IDF bases and hospitals/nursing homes. While on the program, room and board (kosher) are covered. There are touring opportunities, as well as evening activities.
Volunteers serve either for a two- or three-week program. A longer stay is possible. The program is open to men and women, ages 17–70. Additional information about the program can be found on the VFI Web site.
