SJCC Early Childhood School
The SJCC Early Childhood School programs have foundations based upon the richness of the culture and traditions of Judaism, as well as the internationally embraced Reggio Emilia philosophy. The school is a place where children ages 3 months through kindergarten are encouraged to test their theories of the world so as to develop a love of learning, a strong sense of self-reliance, and a strong foundation for critical thinking.
The SJCC’s developmentally appropriate curriculum is a blend of stimulating play and challenging experiences within a supportive environment where children feel welcome, comfortable and nurtured to grow as individuals.
Children enjoy specialists in Judaic culture, music, art, movement, storytelling, and swimming in the SJCC indoor pool (for older children at the Mercer Island campus). A rich Jewish experience is a part of the school, where Shabbat is celebrated every Friday with song, stories and challah, and the Jewish values are a part of the fabric of the community. Enrichment classes are offered in the arts, recreation and sports. Classes are offered quarterly and include a range of sculpture, ceramics, guitar, yoga, dance, martial arts, sports skills, swimming and soccer.
The SJCC holds open houses for prospective families in January and February and offers individual and small group tours on request. New family applications open each February. Full day and morning only program options are available. Learn more by visiting the website or by contacting Dana Weiner.
