Rabbi: Michael A. Latz
Kol HaNeshamah, West Seattle’s Progressive Synagogue Community, was founded in June 2003. Kol HaNeshamah is an intimate, nurturing community that meets at the Alki UCC near Alki Beach in West Seattle. Shabbat is the cornerstone of the community, which meets twice a month on the first and third Friday and Saturday to worship.
Rabbi Michael Latz, with support from an ensemble of lay leaders, conducts Friday night services in a welcoming musical environment. Services are followed by a community vegetarian/kosher fish potluck. Saturday mornings begin with study for both adults and children and are followed by an intimate Torah service for all.
Kol HaNeshamah offers a Hebrew school for children and a comprehensive educational program for adults on Wednesday afternoons and evenings, along with festive celebrations for Jewish holidays. The congregation is also involved in tikkun olam activities, including Habitat for Humanity and the Lifelong AIDS Alliance.
Members of Kol HaNeshamah represent the diversity of the community. They are young and old, families, singles, single parents, and gay and lesbian. While many members live in West Seattle, people from throughout the Puget Sound region make their way to participate in this vibrant, supportive and friendly community.
No dues or tickets are required for any services. Membership information is available. Kol HaNeshamah is a member of the Union for Reform Judaism.
